Female Circumcision It's easy for us to be selfrighteous and rant about the cruelty of female circumcision. However, people in first world countries are often just as destructive, if not more so, to their bodies. t's the year 423 BCE, and the orders have just been sent out Every female is to be circumcised. Rumor has it that the newest Pharaoh is not very wellendowed and wants the females in his land to be circumcised to enhance his sexual pleasure (qtd. in Gruenbaum 43). Although such an account seems amusing, female circumcision and its effects are real.

Shedding Light on Conrad's Darkness "My mother bore me in the southern wild, And I am black, but O. my soul is white; White as an angel is the English child: But I am black as if bereav'd of light." William Blake "The Little Black Boy". "Bereav'd of light" is the quintessential idea one encounters when reading Conrad's Heart of Darkness. We enter the Congo, a place filled with Keats' "verdurous glooms and winding mossy ways," a place where Conrad calls "the farthest point of navigation." From whence comes our source of light.

Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech explores the question “Why hasn’t society conformed to total freedom and equality and what can we do to change that?” through a variety of social implications. These social implications, society’s lack of determination to end discrimination and promote equality, society’s careless take on the issue, and society’s lack of awareness of Negro determination have been made apparent in his speech. Through these implications King has made it apparent that his ideals of freedom and equality are in place to change the way society looks at freedom and equality.
Dreams are a largely unexplainable phenomena that occur during sleep. They can be fascinating or terrifying, clear or faint. It is known that everyone dreams during the night (Kau), and that one may be capable of having as many as four to six dreams in a single night (Schneider, and Domhoff); however, many people have no recollection of these dreams ever even happening. Some people, on the other hand, are able to not only remember them, but be aware of them as they transpire. A dream within which the dreamer is conscious throughout at least part of the dream is called a lucid dream.
Alan Greenspan, Hero or Villain To properly discuss Alan Greenspan, we need background information, where he worked and what exactly did/does he do. Alan Greenspan (born March 6, 1926) is an American Economist and was Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve of the United States from 1987 to 2006. Mr. Greenspan was appointed Federal Reserve (FED) chairman by President Ronald Reagan in 1987 and was reappointed at successive fouryear intervals until retiring in January 2006.

College Life A new experience, a change from the norm, looking out for myself, and living on my own: for me this is college. The transition of high school student to college seemed immensely overwhelming and even a bit scary. The shift opened a can of worms and created challenges, both good and bad, behind every corner. Due to the change of scene, I am now dealing with the everyday acceptance of the greater world around me: the town, the people and my new life. Graduation: the last day that I would unwillingly set foot on the fields of Horizon High School.
Web Radio Instant global radio, or Web radio, is the latest manifestation of the Internet's multimedia successor, the World Wide Web. Improved technology and ******* are turning Web radio into a mass medium. (Hickman 30) The Web radio concept is mainly underlined by the concept of Webcasting, or broadcasting station ******* over the Internet. Online users who visit the Web pages of Webcasting stations can find archived and live audio covering news, business, sports, and many different types of music.
Big Money. Big Problem. Although current oil reserves are supplying the world with more than enough energy, the supply will be running out sooner than we think, making oil and other fossil fuels (natural gas, coal, crude oil, and propane) very expensive and unattainable for the masses. As a world leader the United States needs to seriously pursue alternative forms of energy now. Mentioning them in speeches and acknowledging them is simply not going to solve the problem, President Bush and his administration need to solve the issue as soon as possible.
Sex Education in Schools (Missing works cited) Every year in America, one million teen girls become pregnant and at least three million teens become infected with an STD (Donovan, 1). Though these numbers slightly fluctuate, problems facing American adolescents today, like HIV/AIDS, other STD’s, and teen pregnancy. This means that some needs to change. These problems will decline when sex education is revamped everywhere in America, by making the curriculum completely comprehensive in addressing problems facing adolescents today such as teen pregnancy, STD’s, rape, pressures and emotions dealing with sex, and give teens good communication skills.
Contrast of Irony and Style in Kate Chopin's The Story of an Hour Kate Chopin's use of irony in her short story, "The Story of an Hour," stands in direct contrast to the subtle manner in which she tells the story. Strong use of irony in a short story yields more honesty in a character. She achieves this quality by immediately setting the premise, that Mrs. Mallard's fragile health would ultimately lead to her demise, upon receiving the news of her husband's death. Before an immediate assumption can be made about Mrs.

Much Ado About Nothing, by William Shakespeare emphasizes the three major themes of marriage, deception and gender power. There are two visions of marriage in the play: the first one, characterized by Hero and Claudio, is a positive vision: Although their story is supposed to be the main plot of the play, they are two passive characters in love, ready to get married to one another without any misunderstanding. Benedick and Beatrice characterize the second aspect the matrimonial institution takes.
Homosexuality Homosexuality is said to be a preference for affiliation and sexual activity with a person of the same sex. The potential for homosexual behavior appears to be a basic part of human sexuality, since many people experience homosexual interest, curiosity, or activity at some point in their lives. Homosexual behavior has also been observed in most animal species. Many homosexuals prefer to be called gay or, in the case of women, lesbian because of the exclusively sexual connotation of homosexual.
Physics Lab Report Statement of the Problem: The problem that was arisen in Problem #5: Motion up an Incline was in reference to a change in acceleration in both an uphill and downhill motion. The question on hand was whether or not the acceleration was the same going uphill as it was downhill or different from each other in both directions. To obtain a secure conclusion this experiment required the use of a frictionless cart, an inclined ramp, motion sensor, meter stick, and assistance of computer programs.

Views of Adam Smith Adam Smith had many views that helped in making the world what it is today. I can’t imagine what the world would be like if there weren’t thinkers like Adam Smith. Our career as Pharmacists is a great example of this. What would we be working so hard for if we made the same amount of money as a trash man. He had many other views that were just as important. Adam Smith believed that a nation's wealth was not derived by how much they had in resources, or in an exchangeable commodity, but rather by the labor that its residents produce.
The Jilting of Granny Weatherall is about an older woman who is coming to terms with death, and the losses in her life. Throughout the story, Granny has many memories from her life, including ones about her children and her lovers. Granny thinks that she has accepted death, but realizes that she has not. Granny Weatherall lives on a farm with her daughter Cornelia and with her daughter’s husband. When a car come down the driveway one day Granny mistakes it for a black horses pulling a black carriage; this image of symbolism foreshadows that death is coming for her.
Drugs have been around for thousands of years but their reasons for being used has changed. Drugs were originally intended for medical uses. In ancient Egypt, physicians prescribed tannic acid to treat burns. The early Chinese and Greek pharmacies included opium used as a pain killer, while Hindus used cannabis and henbane plants as an esthetic. With the advances in technology drugs have become more helpful yet more deadly. Since drugs have become easier to get they have also become more popular with young people and competitors in sports.
Ernest Hemingway used an abundant amount of imagery in his War World I novel, A Farewell to Arms. In the five books that the novel is composed of, the mind is a witness to the senses of sight, touch, smell, hearing, and taste. All of the these senses in a way connects to the themes that run through the novel. We get to view Hemingway’s writing style in a greater depth and almost feel, or mentally view World War I and the affects it generates through Lieutenant Henry’s eyes. In Book One of A Farewell to Arms, we get to read of the sense of taste.

Postwar Insanity “This is a novel somewhat in the telegraphic schizophrenic manner of tales of the planet Tralfamadore, where the flying saucers come from.” Insanity is a major theme in Kurt Vonnegut’s life and in turn his novels tend to be a release for his thoughts of mental illness. Vonnegut’s characters tend to embody him or at least characteristics of himself. His characters generally suffer from mild insanity and therefore hints that Vonnegut himself is possibly mildly insane.
An eating disorder is an extreme expression of emotion, distress, or inner problems. An eating disorder can be compared to drug use or self mutilation as a way to relieve pain or stress. Church Of God I. ORIGIN Most of the Pentecostal churches which bear the name "Church of God" can be traced to a holiness revival in the mountains of northwest Georgia and eastern Tennessee. In 1884, R.G. Spurling, a Baptist minister in Monroe County, Tennessee, began to search the Scriptures for answers to the problems of modernism, formality, and spiritual dryness. An initial meeting of concerned people was held on August 19, 1886, at the Barney Creek Meeting House to organize a new movement that would preach primitive church holiness and provide for reform and revival of the churches.

The Work of Frida Kahlo (missing works cited) The work of Frida Kahlo often labeled and defined as feminist art continues to describe and establish what feminist art is. Wife of the well known and highly regarded Diego Rivera, Frida struggled to become an artist in her own right. Her extremely passionate love for and devotion to her husband manifested itself in an unusual manner in their already unconventional and unique marriage. However it is partly this obsession with Diego that helped motivate her own success as a feminist artist.
The Master vs. The Student: Antonioni and Coppola Michelangelo Antonioni initiated a shift in Italian film in the 1950s. He kept some aspects of Italian Neorealism but then moved away into the world of the art film. With Blowup, which was made possible by a deal MGM for a series of films in English, he takes a meandering, odd storyline and places it in trendy, ?swinging. London (Thompson & Bordwell, 4267). He further reinforces the distance between the diegetic world of the film and the audience through precisely spacious camera techniques.
The most significant experience I have had in my life was coming to the United States without speaking much English, going to school, and earning the Bachelor’s degree. Living in a foreign country and going to school was very challenging, especially when I was a selfsupporting student working and attending classes at the same time. I achieved it by my motivation, discipline, and flexibility, as well as the emotional supports from family and friends. Throughout the experience of living in the U.S., I have learned important aspect of life, extended understanding and respect toward other cultures, and matured greatly as a person, which I could never be accomplished if I stayed in Japan.
The ignorance of people who argue against this shows their oneminded views on this topic. This leads to three obvious conclusions. One: Parents refuse to take responsibility to teach their children right from wrong. If a parent teaches them what is and what isn’t okay, then the majority of those kids are not going to grow up and think that it’s cool and awesome to run around imitating things they see on the T.v. or in video games. Parents who refuse to take this responsibility should also refuse to buy the games in the first place – Most if not all violent games get at least a ‘’Ages 15+’’ rating on them.
In the academic exercise given, I have chosen to discuss the topic Leadership and Communication, in which recommendations on how to develop effective interpersonal communication skills will be conferred. According to the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English, the word ‘leadership’ is defined as the quality of being good at leading a group, organization, country, and etc. The word ‘Communication’ as explained by Donald Clark (1997), means the exchange and flow of information and ideas from one person to another, and in the context of leadership and communication, I would suggest that communication is one of the essential elements of leadership.

Napoleon Bonaparte's natural character can best be exemplified of that being of a revolutionary and nationalist individual. The political, social, and economic reforms personify Napoleon Bonaparter's natural characteristics as both a revolutionary and a nationalist. Napoleon Bonaparte's characteristics as a revolutionary can be seen is his consolidation and institutionalization of many reforms of the French Revolution during his leadership of France. In addition, Napoleon's nationalist attributes can be best expressed in his ambitions to strengthen the power of France and the waging of the many wars in Europe historically referred as the Napoleonic Wars.
Writers are judged if they’re deemed to be worthy enough in become part of the canon, in the early 20th century, William Butler Yeats, an Irish poet, was deemed worthy enough as he speaks to us across time, culture and political beliefs through his poem which contains timeless truths which are valued by human beings Two of Yeats’s poem ‘The Wild Swan at Coole’ and ‘Easter 1916’ which I’m going to refer as ‘Wild Swan’ and ‘Easter’ both poem reflect the aspect of time and is based on Yeats’s ex lover.

The Berdache of Early American Conquest Methodological Introduction This paper attempts to link the facet of queer theory that explains gender and sexuality as culturally constructed identities, with the presence of the berdache in the New World at the time of the Spanish conquest. By analyzing the construction of gender and sexuality among the native peoples, in contrast to the ideologies of the Spanish, I found a clash arose which explained, in some sense, the incompatibility of the two cultures.
The Role of the Family Physician in Stopping Alcohol Abuse Although two thirds of American men and one half of American women drink alcohol, three fourths of drinkers experience no serious consequences from alcohol use. Among those who abuse alcohol, many reduce their drinking without formal treatment after personal reflection about negative consequences. Physicians can help prevent the serious effects of alcoholrelated problems by stimulating such reflection and moving patients toward a healthier lifestyle.
What was an American. Western Europeans came to America to start new lives, with new laws, a new social system but all in all to become new men. In contrast African emigrants were brought to America to tend to the needs of the settlers from Europe. They were brought over to be slaves. Each of these views are views of St Jean de Crevecoeur and Fredrick Douglass. St Jean de Crevecoeur, was an emigrant of Europe. Crevecoeur, had no desire to go back to the land in which his forefathers had lived. He was going to a more diverse way of living “where all races melted into new race of man.” (pg 308) He believed America was a place to go to be a free man, “who leaving behind him all his ancient prejudices and manners, that he receives new ones from the new mode of life he has embraced, the new government he obeys, and the new rank he hold.”(pg 308) Crevecoeur knew that his life as a new man would entail new ideas and new opinions.
Socrates’ Trial Defense in Terms of His Values In his Apology, Plato recounted the trial that led to the execution of his friend and mentor, Socrates. The account revealed that values of Socrates’ accusers and his own fundamentally differed, and that they had been angered because he tried to prove that they had misplaced theirs. Those differences created conflict between the two parties that culminated in his trial. With the understanding that a jury condemned Socrates to death and his defense nevertheless pleased him because he gave it truthfully, it is most sensible to call it a good defense because he felt it was the best that he could do.

A Harsh Critique on Hierarchy and Difference Octavia Butler’s trilogy Lilith’s Brood contains a myriad of characters who would be marked as “different” in contemporary American society, whether it is because of their race, gender, sex, or species. Their differences are often the catalyst for conflict between others who see themselves as more normal and, therefore, better and higher ranked in the human hierarchy. Butler’s disdain for human hierarchical tendencies is clear in Lilith’s Brood as she often calls human intelligence and hierarchy “the human contradiction”.

Most grocery stores now sell organic labeled food products to its customers due to the increase in demand for organic food. Organic food became popular in the 1990’s and has since remained a trend. Although there are more and more supermarkets stocking organic food products on their shelves, nonorganic food products outweigh the number of organic food products. Organic food products are labeled with a green and brown sticker that says USDA ORGANIC. When most American’s see this label they think that what they are buying is better than the average product.

Britain is considering changing current first past the post voting system (FPTP) to proportional representation (PR). The main reason is that FPTP is “quasidemocratic” voting system under which there is only one majority party ruling the government and it does not represent wishes of all voters as some votes are wasted. Whereas, PR seems to be the best alternative voting system with proportionality of seats in mandatory places, more parties ruling government and etc. Let us look at these two voting systems and analyze whether PR is suitable and alternative change for FPTP and do advantages of PR outweigh disadvantages.
Shark Attacks The serious attacks are mainly by four species. The Bull shark. the Tiger, the Great White and the Oceanic Whitetip shark. The Grey Nurse (Sand Tiger) and the Bronze Whaler have for many years been blamed for many attacks but it seems nearly all were mistaken identity. The Grey Nurse is now protected in most States in Australia. The Great White is the largest and has a high percentage of fatal attacks. The Bull shark is responsible for a lot of attacks on swimmers and people in shallow water.

Machiavelli And as I speak here of mixed bodies, such as republics or religious sects, I say that those changes are beneficial that bring them back to their original principles. And those are the bestconstituted bodies, and have the longest existence, which possess the intrinsic means of frequently renewing themselves, or such as obtain this renovation in consequence of some extrinsic accidents. And it is a truth clearer than light that, without such renovation, these bodies cannot continue to exist; and the means of renewing them is to bring them back to their original principles.
Black and White Walking into Krannert Art Museum, I experienced something I have never experienced before. That something was actually analyzing and appreciating artwork. I have been around artwork before and have looked at many times and I have enjoyed it but I have never really sat down with art to break it down and notice the little details that make it so powerful. Today I did at Krannert Art Museum while looking at their Brown vs. Board exhibit. I was able to break everything down and notice the details and by doing this I got a much more influential experience out of it.
Furthermore, this “blandness” of linear life is not expressed as optimal in the text, as it is not glorified, rather at times, listed in a near checklist (“What Whileawayans celebrate” on page 102), which is enviable when one is mired in chaos (perhaps like fictionalJoanna or Jael’s worlds) but provides a whole separate list of anxieties and problems. This “ideal” nature, of a womenonly society presents a view that even removing the problems of gender roles by limiting a world to one biological gender; it only solves one face of a multidimensional problem of identity and relation to others in the social reality of the world.

The American Civil War Ever since the beginning of America there have been consequential events that led to the American Civil War. Throughout history, there has been much controversy over whether this war was or was not unavoidable. Upon looking back into the chronicles of history and the longtime conflict between the North and the South, one can see that the American Civil War was undeniably inevitable. One major contributor of aggravation between North and South was the belief in Manifest Destiny.

During the Medieval era, lasting from the 5th century to the 15th century, warfare was considered a way of life. In warfare, the knights were recognized as one of the most powerful warriors on the battlefield. These knights, or mounted warriors, were considered deadly because they could move extremely fast and deal enormous damage to infantry by charging into them. Loyal only to their feudal lords, knights went on conquests, but also stayed in their castle defending their lords. This was important because in feudalism, the lord was at the top of the hierarchy.

Employee Violence INTRODUCTION: When we hear the word violence, many of us think about crime in the streets. This paper will focus on workplace violence committed by employees. Today more than 1,000 Americans are murdered on the job every year, 32% more than annual average in the 80’s (Toufexis 36). It is very hard for people to imagine that their job site can be a potential target for violence. To some people their job is like their second home. Employees who suffer stress, are terminated from work, under paid, or who have problems with management/coworkers are the ones more likely to engage in workplace violence.
The Link Between Dinosaurs and Birds There have been many recent discoveries pertaining to the finding of dinosaurs. There has been a discovery in China of a remarkable dinosaur with birdlike feathers on its hind legs and tail including others places. A man by the name of Henry Gee has been researching this topic since 1996 and has come up with new discoveries. This fourwinged dinosaur has fueled debate over evolution of airborne birds.
Hume on Suicide ONE considerable advantage that arises from Philosophy, consists in the sovereign antidote which it affords to superstition and false religion. All other remedies against that pestilent distemper are vain, or at least uncertain. Plain good sense and the practice of the world, which alone serve most purposes of life, are here found ineffectual: History as well as daily experience furnish instances of men endowed with the 2 strongest capacity for business and affairs, who have all their lives crouched under slavery to the grossest superstition.

From The Road to Serfdom, how and why does F.A. Hayek denounce all forms of planning or collectivism. What is so superior to laissez faire or capitalism and why. Do you agree with Hayek¡¦s thesis. If so, yes; if not, why not. Collectivism¡¦s main argument is that society should not be controlled by people who are irresponsible. Hayek counters that point by stating that collectivism is nothing more than totalitarian in which individual freedoms are lost. He also states that the welfare and happiness of the society cannot be satisfied by a single plan (Hayek 6364).
BrandonHi, my brother Frank and I are about to tell you, about the walk home from school that ended our lives. Chris Fivel and I were upset with each other the day of October 15, 1939. We pouted at each other the whole way to school. We usually got along. But that day we weren't. The school day was fine until the princeable interrupted our class and turned on the radio. It was one of Hitlers ridiculous speeches. We didn't really know what Hitler was up to this time. Brandon So we ignored it.
Where there are various regions there are bound to be a variety of people with alternate cultures, beliefs, and ways of life. The cultures found with the Appalachia are unique in their own ways and represent a body of individuals who found their way to such an area. Land that is included within the Southern Appalachia can be best described by Horace Kephart as he does so in his book The Southern Highlander and His Homeland to include: “the four western counties of Maryland; the Blue Ridge Valley, and Allegheny Ridge counties of Virginia; all of West Virginia; eastern Tennessee; eastern Kentucky; western North Carolina; the four northwestern counties of South Carolina; northern Georgia; and northeastern Alabama.” (2224) With so much area to be had there are a few prominent cultures and occurrences that need to be discussed.

Analysis of manifest destiny as depicted in Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy Violence has always been part of society. A cursory glance at the evolutionary periods to the classical ages up to the modern time shows that many breakthroughs were made after violent upheavals to either remedy the wrongs in society or to ensure survival of one group against the other. Such instances include the wars for territory where one group was faced by extinction if they didn’t rise up in arms such as the regular FrenchGermanic wars.

Comparing Ralph and Jack of William Golding's Lord Of The Flies There are always people who, in a group, come out with better qualities as a leader than others. The strongest people however, become the greater influences, which the others decide to follow. However, sometimes the strongest person is not the best choice. Authors often show how humans select this stronger person, in order to give an understanding of the different powers that some people can posses over others. In William Golding's novel, Lord of the Flies Ralph though not the stronger person, demonstrates a better understanding of people which gives Ralph better leadership qualities than Jack.
Macbeth: Truly Tragic Macbeth is the epitome of what the literary world regards as a "tragic hero". His admirable qualities are supplanted with greed and hate when three witches dupe him. The three witches enter with the first scene from William Shakespeare's, Macbeth, a tragic tale of one man's quest for power that leads to his ultimate defeat. The story revolves around our tragic hero, Macbeth, and how an admirable and noble man, so established in society, can fall so greatly. Throughout the play, he is driven by an obsession to become King of Scotland, and in the process commits acts of betrayal and treachery to achieve this goal.

Nuclear waste disposal is a pressing issue of extreme importance. Nuclear waste is material that either contains a radioactive substance or has been contaminated by radioactive elements and is no longer useful. With all of the dangers surrounding nuclear waste and a halflife of one hundred thousand years this issue must be solved with complete certainty.
Urban Decay: barricading our cities, And our minds Everyone bemoans the way street crime, visible poverty, deteriorating infrastructure, decaying homes and boardedup businesses are becoming increasingly common features of city life, but we rarely ask ourselves how this deterioration in the world around us is affecting the way we look at the world. In not asking that question, we underestimate the importance of urban decay as a problem in its own right, and the degree to which it promotes other social ills.
In the celebrated poem by American author Wallace Stevens, “Anecdote of the Jar,” we are driven to examine and understand the many symbolic connotations of “the jar” in its particular placement upon a hill; those of which may potentially coincide with the many interpretations of this world. While “the jar” represents many ideas corresponding to our paradigms of how we perceive our world, the most profound idea to me is the notion of emptiness which parallels the reality of emptiness in the prose “Clay” by James Joyce.

Over the last 200 years 70 percent of Australia’s native vegetation was cleared, most occurring in the past 50 years. Approximately 6 million hectares of various ecosystems were removed between 2001 and 2004 ( , 2010). Australia’s land has been utilized over the past century even though it is known as ‘one of the driest and least fertile continents of the world’ (Australian Conservation Foundation, 2000), although land clearing is still an issue due to increased soil salinity and greenhouse gases.
Discrimination Religion, national origin, race, and social status are the suspect classifications of discrimination, but are these the only categories that should not be discriminated against. People today are searching for equal rights and opportunities. No one should be suffering from any type of discrimination, but they are. Discrimination is an unfair treatment of a person or group based on prejudice, therefore sex, disability, and age should be included in the suspect classifications of discrimination (“Discrimination”).

Christina Rossetti's Goblin Market One of the strongest emotions inherent in us as humans is desire. The majority of the time, we are unable to control what we crave; however, with practice, we learn not all things we want are necessary. As a result of this mature understanding, we are able to ease our feelings and sometimes even suppress our desires. Something even more mature is understanding that when we give in to our desires, we become vulnerable. In a harsh, brutal world, vulnerability will not work to our advantage.
While there are many different ways for avalanches to set up, they are all related in the sense that the snows' frictional hold on the slope has released and gravity is pulling the snow particles down. When the snow is deposited during the storm, the particles are 'bonding' or 'locking' together and creating layers of particles that are relatively similar. Every time the temperature changes during the storm, or the wind shifts directions, it has an effect on how the snow settles and may form a new layer.
In Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s poem “Kubla Khan”, the narrator offers a host of fantastic imagery relating to a fictional “pleasure dome” constructed by the Mongolian emperor Kublai Khan. Coleridge professed ignorance of the poem’s meaning, saying only that it was a fragmented memory of a dream, but an analysis of the symbolic imagery of the poem through the lens of psychoanalytic interpretation will show that the poem is a study of the nature of creativity and imagination and the dangers associated with it.
New Moon by Stephenie Meyer This book was quite suspenseful. While the series is known as being mainly romanticallybased, New Moon contains a great deal of mystery. At the beginning, Bella is unwrapping a present while at the house of her boyfriend (who just so happens to be a vampire). His family is there, too, so when she gets a paper cut on her finger and then falls onto a glass table and slices her arms up, it's a disaster. With all that blood, it definitely seems like the vampires would devour her.

Film Response It’s always hard to pick a single favorite movie, because there are so many good ones. If I had to pick a favorite it would be a toss up between Gladiator, and Old School. I have a hard time choosing between comedy, and action. I would have to say that Gigli staring Ben Affleck, and Jlo is the least favorite movie of mine. In my opinion Gigli had a bad plot, bad acting, and was to long. I recently have seen the Client which was writer by John Grissim. The Client was originally a book, and like a lot of his work was great.

Everyone for Themselves I lived in the village of Millington, MI most of my life, where most of the roads roll around open farmland. After moving down to Lapeer, MI and traveling daily to Rochester, MI on M24, it seems as if people from different traffic areas drive in different ways. City drivers tend to go 520+ speed limit, tailgate more, and seem to run a lot of lights. I would say the majority of the city drivers do this. Some country drivers might also have some of the traits of city drivers, but normally they go 05+ speed limit, rarely tailgate, run lights, and do a lot less traffic violations overall.

The society has evolved over the decades. Medical advances, greater technologies, better understanding of the world around us, the sky is the limit. The progression of a society is astounding from where it was just twenty years ago. One is able to do things that the forefathers would have never dreamed. Science has discovered ways to travel to the moon and back, reach some of the deepest depths of the oceans and discover new species, and drive hybrid cars. The achievements of today’s society have reached a new high; however, with great achievement comes great questions of ethics.
Thoreau's Enlightenment and Ideas "Resistance to Civil Disobedience" is one of Henry David Thoreau's most famous essays. One of the major problems most critics see with this essay deals with Thoreau's seemingly contradictory statements about society from the beginning to the end. Barry Wood, a wellknown critical writer, attributes this change in beliefs to the enlightenment of Thoreau in jail.

In the early eighteenth century, the phonograph has been used to reinforce patients in hospitals to sleep and during surgery and anesthesia process (Barrera et al., 2002, p. 379). In the nineteenth century, there was a desire to use the sounds of music to minimize pain. In the 1980s, the use of music therapy was ********ed, but it had not proved any effectiveness (Barrera et al., 2002, p.379). Also, Munro et al. Embryonic Stem Cell Research Embryonic stem cell research is a controversial topic nationwide, because of its clash of ethical and moral values. Many people, including those suffering from diseases that this research is seeking to cure, do not believe in killing a living embryo in order to advance research and science. “Even though having Parkinson’s Disease is something I’d rather not go through, I cannot find it in me to support embryonic stem cell research at this time in my life, simply because my improvement or being cured shouldn’t depend on the killing of an innocent life,” said Wilbanice Ayala, 22, of Hudson, New Hampshire.
Euthanasia Euthanasia in today's society has run rampant, but whose choice is it really to end one's life in the case of excessive suffering. Euthanasia has become one of the most controversial issues in the medical field. There are many questions that must be considered when euthanasia is involved. For example: Whose right is it anyway. Do physicians have the right to perform assisted suicide. Is it morally right. When is "competent" not competent enough. Euthanasia is preceded the decision that a terminally ill patient's life will come to an end before natural death.
