The International Whaling Regime In his article, “Whale Mining, Whale Saving,” Sidney Holt states, “saving the whales is for millions of people a crucial test of their political ability to halt environmental destruction”(Holt 1985). In a world where environmental issues are often so vast that solving them seems impossible, it is rare to encounter a regime which successfully addresses these problems. If we judge a regime’s effectiveness by its ability to change the behavior of its members and possibly even encourage others to join, then the whaling regime was in fact quite effective.
Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop and Ancient Kemet Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop is considered to be the most respected scholar of Kemet. An Egyptologist and linguist, he had the revolutionary idea to use the scientific method to disprove the many myths surrounding ancient Kemet. He developed a way to test the levels of melanin in Egyptian mummies, which revealed that the ancient Egyptians were, indeed, Africans. He also argued that the Egyptian language was related to African dialects and can be connected to the Wolof language of today.
The Use of Gender Roles to Obtain Power People use gender roles to obtain power. In my life experience this is always been true. I look at it in my everyday life at the workplace. I happen to work with people who have gotten where they are based purely on their sex alone. I am not talking about sex in terms of intercourse, rather than gender. However this does work both ways. It also works for different types of power. To say that people use gender roles to obtain power is a very broad statement.

Through the use of his magic, Prospero seeks to surpass worldly values and create a utopia, or ideal society. This becomes evident in how Shakespeare portrays the innocence of Ferdinand and Miranda. He insists that Ferdinand not “Break her virgin knot before All sanctimonious ceremonies may.”(Act 4, Scene 1) Prospero’s seeking to create an ideal society also becomes evident in his attempts at making his usurping brother and his court to repent. Thus, he is trying to make right of what has gone wrong in the world.

A Thousand Acres as Movie is Melodramatic and Bogus Perhaps Jane Smiley's Pulitzer Prizewinning novel "A Thousand Acres" was a bit overrated. For one thing, the book's "dark secret" seemed utterly implausible. I just didn't believe that the book's protagonist and narrator, a 37yearold Iowa farm wife named Ginny, could have completely repressed the fact that her father had sex with her when she was 15 years old, night after night, for a year. For True Believers in "Repressed Memory Syndrome," this might sound like gospel: I found it melodramatic and bogus.
For many, the term juvenile delinquent likely conjures up images of groups of young men standing on street corners, wearing baggy clothes with hats cocked to the side and boasting defiant attitudes to match. However, some may be surprised to learn that the face of the juvenile delinquent is swiftly changing. While boys are responsible for the majority of juvenile crime overall, the number of juvenile females involved with the justice system has been steadily increasing over the past three decades (Gross 84).
The connection between Britain and the English colonies was that of the ruling of the colonies by the king of Britain, King George III and his parliament. The king’s ruling was very unfavorable for the colonists because of his tyrannic dictatorship and unjustly taxations. The mere thought of an island ruling an entire continent thousands of miles away with poor communication and lack of supervision of the colonies by the king, did not work in favor of the colonies nor for Britain. Three contributing factors for the outbreak of the American Revolution were (1) the king’s taxes, (2) neglect of the 13 colonies and (3) England’s mercantilism policy.

The ferret SA node is located at the junction of the superior vena cava and right atrium near the sulcus terminalis region (Fig. 1, A and B). Cross sections of the right atrium revealed an ovoid shaped SA node positioned epicardially (Fig. 1C). A light microscopic view of the SA node region shows two nodal arteries, centrally located, surrounded by a ring of dark cells (Fig. 1D). Larger, pale cells form a concentric ring around the dark cells (Fig. 1D). Thus, while being smaller, many features of ferret SA node displayed striking similarities to classic descriptions of human SA node (29; 69; 70).
Comparing Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway and Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway and Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights share similarities in many aspects, perhaps most plainly seen in the plots: just as Clarissa marries Richard rather than Peter Walsh in order to secure a comfortable life for herself, Catherine chooses Edgar Linton over Heathcliff in an attempt to wrest both herself and Heathcliff from the squalid lifestyle of Wuthering Heights. However, these two novels also overlap in thematic elements in that both are concerned with the opposing forces of civilization or order and chaos or madness.
Distance Learning Currently, computers already play a prominent role in many aspects of our lives from personal works to education fields. The Internet can also be invaluable in linking people culturally and socially (Hacker & Capehart, 1999). Geographically and historically, most universities in the world offer distance learning to students through the Internet, and the distance learning is becoming a new trend of the 21st academy. In particular, computers will permit a degree of individualizationpersonalized coaching or tutoring (Gardner, 2000: 31).
Correcting for Errors Inherent in DNA Pooling Methods Professor’s comment: This student’s research paper describes developments and refinements in an effort to correct for errors inherent in the DNA pooling methods employed in genetics research. I admire the clarity and efficiency with which she explains these developments. Introduction Many genetic diseases have yet to be located on the human genome for reasons that include their multiple loci and incomplete penetrance. To pinpoint these loci in terms of particular regions of the chromosomes, association studies, which compare allele frequency between affected individuals (probands) and controls, must be performed across the entire human genome.
Trying Martial Arts Martial Arts are not a good thing to know. It gives you a false sense of superiority. Which makes you more aggressive than you would be normally would be. With this aggression you would most likely go out and start fights. You would always be mad and want to hurt something. Martial Arts are not a good thing to know. On the contrary, in martial arts you are taught to control your anger. You are taught not to let your feelings interfere with your skills. Martial arts encourage violence.

Introduction Management, as defined by Daft and Marcic, is the effective and efficient attainment of organizational goals, through planning, organizing, leading and controlling organizational resources. This community service organizational study has allowed our group to extend our learning outside the classroom and apply management theories to the real world. The site that we volunteered at was the Venice Library. Upon first arriving, our team thought that it was going to be a struggle to try and observe real life managerial workings at a library as compared to the other nonprofits.
